Tools: circle tool to draw circles, and the Command- Trim to trim the shape
Reflection: how to use the Trim tool in two ways. I can select the object used for cutting first, then select the object that needs to be cut. Or I select everything at the beginning and click the lines I want to cut.

Tools: Square Tool, Command- Trim, Curve Tool or Arc Tool
Reflection: I am not sure whether the example requires me to use the Curve or Arc tool, I assume there are tools like making rounded corners from squares which can be adjusted directly.

Reflection: I typed 45 degrees every time in the Rotation. I am wondering is any quick tool I can repeat the last step

Reflection: After a few experiments of the Offset, now I know how to use it.

Reflection: I am stuck in here. I want to join everything together, but it looks like the curve can't be joined with shapes

My original design is like that. And I chose Cherry Wood, because I thought the dark colour would be good. However, the deep grey and the black were too close to each other, and the patterns in the middle were very hard to see. And many lines were too thin and small details were hard to see. But the high contract part was good.  The first laser cut attempt Based on the first version,  I improved my original design and increased the contract. And changed the wood to Birch Plywood.  I also wanted to try a hollow design with simpler patterns. So I designed the second pattern. Both patters look good now, and I like them.

My first Castle built in Rihno

Hello and welcome to my first blog post! I am learning Rhino, and as a warm-up I created a 3D model of a Castle. It is inspired by a medieval fortress.  I used cubes as bricks to build the wall and the main body of the castle. And I used cones and pyramids to build the top.  So far, I have very limited knowledge of Rihno, this is what I have for now.  I know it looks very rough, but I will continue to refine it.  Challenges:  I struggled with almost everything. Rihno is so new to me, all the skills I learned from the other software like Adobe suit do not work with Rihno. Every move in Rihno drove me crazy, it never works as I wish. And I feel it is very hard to control the angle, zoom in and zoom out, I always lost and can't find the main coordinate ( zoom too far maybe). I was not sure whether all shapes were attached together, even though I opened the Grip Snap. In Adobe, the movement of attachment is strong.   This is my process so far. I made most big parts of the outer shell, and now I am moving to more details and small parts.
